Discontentment

I remembered looking at this gumamela flower. The flower was starting to wilt, the color fading. It was sort of trying to hold on but it looked rather tired. It reflected how I felt then.

The past few weeks were super hectic. At work, and even at home. I felt stretched. Travelling to Stockholm every Mondays and Tuesdays, dealing with colleagues whom I sometimes don't see eye to eye. Chores at home never seemed to end, dishes to wash, clothes to laundry, rooms to clean. Kids were supposed to help but you know kids, they need to be reminded to do their tasks. Then there were other worries, aging and ailing elders, frustrations over not having clarity of their ailments. So on and so forth.

My patience was often at its limits. I struggled to end the day with joy. Life just got to me. And so often when we go through life with all these little yet countless things that we juggle with, it ends with us feeling overwhelmed and burdened. This feeling of discontentment slowly attacks and poisons our well-being.

A friend has recently recommended a devotional app, and surprisingly enough, the theme for that week was about discontentment. It helped me navigate through my emotions and struggles.

There were moments when the messages did not quite reach my heart. I was just reading through. But because I have a community that prays with me, these angels help me open my eyes and understand better what God was saying to me.

It's so amazing how God find ways to speak to us. When our mind is so clouded, He sends angels in different forms. With St Patrick's prayer resonating through this --

Lord, be with us this day,
Within us to purify us;
Above us to draw us up;
Beneath us to sustain us;
Before us to lead us;
Behind us to restrain us;
Around us to protect us.

These hurdles will always come our way. When we put our trust and faith in God, we will overcome these obstacles, no matter how big or small they are. Life is not easy but because of His promises for a better future, everything becomes negligible.
